Dr. Deshpande Serves as Judge at 2019 Indian Film Festival

Dr. Shekhar Deshpande, professor of Media and Communication, served as a judge on the Narrative Film Jury at the 2019 Indian Film Festival of LA (IFFLA) from April 11 to 14.

The IFFLA, a non-profit organization that has been running for 17 years, is devoted to cultivating a greater appreciation of Indian cinema and culture by showcasing films and promoting the diverse perspectives of the Indian diaspora.

The festival showcased nearly 25 films from Indian filmmakers across the globe to bridge the gap between the two largest entertainment industries in the world, Hollywood and India.

In the past, Dr. Deshpande has published multiple articles on world cinema and visual cultures, as well as the book World Cinema: A Critical Introduction.
