Crawford Organics CSA Returns to Arcadia University, New Share Options Available

By Caitlin Burns | April 5, 2017

Arcadia University will again host Crawford Organics Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program deliveries in the spring, summer, and fall of 2017. A CSA is a mutual relationship between a local farm and the community, where members pay for the production of the harvest, and in return receive shares of produce.

This year, a new share new share options are available, including a mini share. According to Crawford Organics, the mini share is an ideal option for one or two people, containing five to six items in each box. Fruit shares are also available this year, with one or two fruits in each box. Boxes are delivered on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to campus.

Returning this year, in addition to a regular share size, will be the add-ons for eggs and yogurt.

“The most interesting thing about the CSA is the way that it provides an alternative model for how ordinary people can get healthy food and support local farmers in a sustainable way,” said Michael Dwyer, associate professor of Media and Communications and Arcadia CSA organizer. “Everyone agrees that supporting local farmers who do things in an ethical way is important, but it’s difficult for middle class families to actually do that—a CSA makes that happen. It’s great that it is available right here on our own campus.”
