Dr. Graciela Slesaransky-Poe, Associate Professor and Coordinator of Special Education, receives the Patricia J. Creegan Award for Excellence in Inclusive Education, given by the Pennsylvania’s Education for All Coalition (PEAC) at its annual meeting on Saturday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m.

The award recognizes her “outstanding commitment and performance in inclusive education.” This is the second time that PEAC has presented this award. Last year it was given to a teacher, and this is the first time it will be given to a university professor.

The Patricia J. Creegan Award is presented annually in recognition of the life and work of its namesake, who was a founding member of Pennsylvania’s Education for All Coalition. “Trish Creegan was a passionate advocate for the true inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of life, an educator, family member and friend, whose life was cut short in 2009 after a valiant fight against cancer,” notes Slesaransky-Poe.

“She lived her life helping others as well as teaching people to help others. Trish was an adjunct faculty in Arcadia’s Special Education program.”
