By Purnell T. Cropper | April 8, 2011

Nick G. Costa, FAHP, Vice President for University Advancement, was part of a panel presentation that compared fundraising in a healthcare environment with resource development at a college or university. The April 4 presentation was for the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy’s Mid-Atlantic Conference held in Baltimore, Md.

The panel topic was “Two Worlds: Comparing Fundraising for Colleges vs. Healthcare.” In addition to Costa, the presenters—all experts who have led programs in both environments—included Richard G. Kief, FAHP, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at McDaniel College, and M. Jane Williams, Principal with Schultz & Williams. The panel topics included: How do the cultures and staffs compare? How are decisions made? What motivates donors, and how would each setting benefit you (tuition benefits, pensions, bonuses, etc.)?
