“There’s a new reality in the world…the new reality is a reality in which all of the greatest and hardest and most promising problems in the world to tackle are ultimately or in some major degree world problems,” Senator Harris L. Wofford Jr. said to graduating seniors at Commencement on May 20. “And that’s why the journey that Arcadia is on is the right journey for American education.”

Wofford received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree for his more than 60 years of service to the United States. His service includes volunteering for the Army Air Corps in World War II, getting involved in the Civil Rights Movement, serving in the U.S. Senate, and helping to develop the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps.
