‘The Swing of the Sea’ Tapped for Regional Theater Festival

Arcadia University’s production of The Swing of the Sea (view photos) was one of eight shows selected for performance at the regional Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Jan. 10 – 14. Region II includes universities and colleges located in northwest New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Ohio, Northern Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. In addition, the production received a Certificate of Merit for Excellence in Ensemble Acting.

“This is the second show we have taken to festival in the last three years,” says Mark Wade, Artistic Director, Assistant Professor and Head of the Theater Arts Program. “We will also be taking a group of actors to participate in the Irene Ryan Acting Scholarship Auditions, and other students will be entering portfolios in hair, makeup and costume design.”

The Swing of the Sea was also nominated for the Michael Kanin National Student Playwriting Award and The David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award.
