Forensic Science Students Participate in American Academy Meeting, Feb. 20-25

Second year students in Arcadia University’s FEPAC accredited Master’s in Forensic Science program will attend the American Academy of Forensic Science (AAFS) meeting, in Atlanta, Ga., Feb. 20-25.

Three Arcadia students have been selected to present their research. Emmi Slivka and Theresa Scott were selected as platform presenters for their respective projects, “Characterization of Methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) and Mephedrone in ‘Legal High’ Products by Chemical Color Tests and Microcrystalline Tests with Confirmation by LC/MS” and “Chemical Characterization of Kratom and Associated Alkaloids.” Martha Wood was selected to present a poster for her project “The Conversion of Codine to Dihydrocodine in Toxicological Analysis of Urine.”

As part of the week’s events, NMS Labs and Agilent Technologies will host a late night reception for Arcadia University MSFS alumni, students and faculty to network, reminisce and reconnect at Meehan’s Public House located in downtown Atlanta on Feb. 22, from 9 to 11:30 p.m. To RSVP, email Katherine Sas at katherine.sas@frfoundation.org.
