“A Risk-Based Risk Finance Paradigm,” a paper by Dr. Zaneta Chapman, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, was published in the Journal of Financial Transformation’s September 2012 issue. Chapman and her co-authors, Siwei Gao, a Ph.D. candidate at Temple University, and Dr. Michael R. Powers, Professor of Risk Management and Insurance at Temple University, propose an alternative to the conventional risk finance paradigm of enterprise risk management that accounts for not only a loss portfolio’s expected frequency and expected severity, but also its “risk” as captured by an appropriate measure of dispersion or spread.
