Dr. Bruce Campbell, assistant professor in the School of Education, and Chett Farbstein, graduate student in Elementary/Special Education, presented “HBO’s The Wire Season Four as Text for Deconstructing the Opportunity Gap” to the Pennsylvania Chapter of the National Association of Multicultural Education on April 12 at Temple University.

The presentation offered a reflection, as well as shared strategies on the experience of creating a college course that couples HBO’s The Wire Season 4 with scholarly articles and other media.  This framework is intended to inspire cultural critical consciousness and vigorous discussion around “the opportunity gap” and its many interrelated political, economic, social and cultural dimensions.
