Slesaransky-Poe Speaks on WHYY on Gender Nonconformity

Dr. Graciela Slesaransky-Poe, founding dean of the School of Education, appeared as a guest on WHYY’s Voices in the Family for a segment on “the alienation and pain transgender individuals face” and ways schools can create a positive environment for gender nonconforming students. The episode, which aired on Jan. 5 and will be rebroadcast on Jan. 11 at 6 p.m., came on the heels of the December death of transgender teen Leelah Alcorn in Ohio. An expert in gender nonconformity, especially in regards to children and teenagers, Dr. Slesaransky-Poe frequently presents on the topic at education conferences and also has been quoted on CNN.com and Philly.com.
