March 22: Suicide Prevention Training Session

By Caitlin Burns | March 8, 2017

In collaboration with Arcadia’s Department of Public Health, the Montgomery County Suicide Prevention Taskforce will host a training session on Wednesday, March 22 from 5 to 7 p.m. in Brubaker 102.

The one-session training will offer an understanding of the three key steps in helping someone on the brink of suicide: question, persuade, and refer. Attendees will use these steps to learn the warning signs of suicide, how to offer hope, and how to get help. Anyone can be trained in these simple steps to save a life.

Every year, millions of Americans are directly affected by the more than 37,000 suicides and hundreds of thousands of suicide attempts by friends or loved ones. The mission of the Montgomery County Suicide Prevention Taskforce is to develop and implement strategies to reduce the risk of suicide in Montgomery County through the collaborative efforts of community agencies and service providers. It is part of the Montgomery County Office of Mental/Behavioral Health.

Pre-registration is required to attend this training. For more information, contact Public Health Program Support Specialist Lindsay McGann.
