Dr. Bruce Campbell, associate professor in the School of Education, joined the Arts as Activism panel at the Philadelphia Asian American Film & Filmmakers Festival (PAAFF) on Nov. 11. Addressing topics that intersected with values and messages presented in PAAFF’s featured films, the discussion focused on the roles of American artists in activism and social movements.

“In light of the recent shift in political climate, American artists have taken up the mantle where politics have failed,” said Dr. Campbell. “This panel [allowed us to question] to what extent community of color artists are responsible for engaging in issue-based political discourse.”

The panel was held in partnership with the University of Pennsylvania’s Asian American Studies program and the Greater Philadelphia Asian Studies Consortium.
