Michelle Reale, associate professor and faculty librarian, read from her Birds of Sicily (2017) collection during the VIA/Italian Americana Night of Poetry at the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute at Queens College in New York City on April 20.

Birds of Sicily, which explores the geography of proximity and themes of migration, is one of many published poetry collections by Reale. She has authored five books on librarianship. Her most recent book, The Indispensable Academic Librarian: Teaching and Collaborating for Change, was published earlier this year.
