Jake ’17 Investigates Molecular Potential Energy

By RetterJ | August 17, 2018

Chemistry and Physics alumna Lena C. Jake ’17  published “Hartree-Fock symmetry breaking around conical intersections,” the first segment of her doctoral research, in the prestigious Journal of Chemical Physics, a compilation of fresh perspectives and significant findings in the field of chemical physics.

Jake’s research addresses irregularities in molecular potential energy by analyzing the behavior of Hartree–Fock— a method of determining the wave function and energy of microscopic systems. She will continue investigating this topic at Rice University in Austin, TX.
