Davis ’20 and ASIA and K-Pop Clubs Celebrate Asian Culture and Cuisine

Asian culture and cuisine were on the menu as part of a collaboration between the ASIA and K-Pop clubs on Nov. 19. Guests were treated to games and entertainment; food from India, Korea, the Philippines, and Japan; and Korean dances, taught by the K-Pop club.

Arcadia’s ASIA club represents and teaches about different Asian cultures on campus, while the K-Pop club is a special-interest group focusing on the unique factions and culture of Korean popular music. The event, held during International Education Week, was part of senior Beauty Davis’ Honors Project. She was mentored by May Their Aye ’12, ’14M, coordinator of Diversity Programs and Initiatives.

“As an International Peer Associates League [IPAL] member, I enjoy bringing people together and making them feel welcomed,” said Davis, a Psychology major with a Second Education Studies minor. “What better way to bring people together than food? Everyone brought food, and we enjoyed a meal together.”

International Education Week, held Nov. 18 to 22 this year, is an annual initiative sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to promote the benefits of international education and exchange.
