Arcadia's Financial Literacy Program

Sometimes in life, being “book-smart” isn't enough. You need the tools to understand basic financial concepts, money management strategies and how to protect your credit so you are empowered to make sound financial decisions. That's the goal of Arcadia’s Common Cent$ Financial Literacy Program! Choose from a series of workshops and seminars throughout the year on topics listed below. You’ll enjoy Chipotle  while learning and even be automatically entered into a drawing at every workshop you attend to win a $25 Amazon gift card (winner selected at the close of each workshop, must be present to win).

  • Thursday, September 28, 4:00-5:00 p.m.:  Financial Life Hacks:  How to Save a Dollar When You Don't Have a Dime to Spare. Location: Castle Rose and Mirror Rooms 
  • Monday, October 30, 4:00-5:00 p.m.:  Basics of Banking & Avoiding Identity Theft.  Location:  Castle Rose and Mirror Rooms    
  • Tuesday, November 14, 4:00-5:00 p.m.:  Get Smart About Credit (how to choose a credit card, maintain an excellent credit score and learn what your credit score effects).  Location:  Castle Rose and Mirror Rooms

  • Thursday, February 28, 4:00-5:00 p.m.:  Students & Money:  Some Relationships Are Complicated!  Location: Castle Rose and Mirror Rooms    
  • Tuesday, April 3, 4:00-5:00 p.m.:  Suffering from SLSC (Student Loan Confusion) Syndrome?  We've Got the Cure!  Location: Castle Rose and Mirror Rooms 
  • Monday, April 16, 4:00-5:00 p.m.:  Negotiating Job Offers (Brought to you by our Office of Career Education!) Location: Castle Rose Room.  This interactive workshop is designed to empower you with the skills and confidence to successfully negotiate salary and benefits.  Learn tools and techniques to communicate your value to an employer. Chipotle will be provided. Pre-register through Handshake by 4/13.

  • A “Budget Wizard” tool to help you manage your spending.
  • An online dictionary of financial terms to help you understand the basics.
  • A credit module to help you in managing credit cards and protecting your credit.
