Anti-Black Racism Initiatives Into Action

Dear Arcadia Community,

On June 11, we announced action steps to support, protect, and improve the Arcadia experience for our Black community members. However, action steps must be accompanied by accountability measures and timelines, areas where institutions often fall short in creating systemic change.

Please review our initiatives, which include leaders assigned to each action step. In the coming weeks, we will ask leaders to provide a timeline and completion date for their assigned initiative(s). These initiatives will be incorporated within the University’s Adaptive Strategy ARCADIA2025 to ensure that justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts at Arcadia are truly prioritized and part of the fabric of our work. We will continue to explore new approaches to our work and provide quarterly updates on our progress on these initiatives.

In addition, with input from the community, we will reorganize the President’s Commission on Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (JEDI) to help us extend these action steps to other marginalized community members. Ultimately, our efforts will make our entire community better and stronger.

I invite you to join us in this mission- and vision-critical work as we reimagine Arcadia to become a reflection of the world that we want to live in.

Sincerely,

Ajay Nair, Ph.D
President
