Dr. Fabio Oldoni, the program director and assistant professor for Arcadia University’s Master of Science in Forensic Science (MSFS) program published a scientific paper titled, “Global Survey on Evaluative Reporting on DNA Evidence with Regard to Activity-Level Propositions,” in the academic Journal of Forensic Sciences this past month.

In this worldwide study, Dr. Oldoni and collaborators from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice outline the current opinions of forensic DNA practitioners and researchers and highlight several operational concerns on evaluative reporting on DNA evidence with regard to “activity-level” propositions.

“This important information can be used to advance evaluative reporting on DNA evidence given formal activity-level propositions in laboratories and court testimonies worldwide,” said Dr. Oldoni.

Dr. Oldoni presented the results of this pivotal study on Nov. 11, 2023, at the 29th GeFI Congress, the Italian-speaking Working Group for the International Society for Forensic Genetics (ISFG), where Oldoni serves as a contact person for international scientific relations. In addition, he presented this work at the 76th annual American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS) 2024 Scientific Conference in Denver, Colo., on Feb. 22, 2024.
