Knight Code of Honor Nominees Recognized at Annual Celebration
Arcadia students who have demonstrated the Knight Code of Honor through the 2023-24 school year were invited to a celebration of their accomplishments in the Commons meeting rooms on April 18. Hosted by the Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct (CSSC), the event included a dinner for nominees and their guests, a few speakers, and awards.
Students recognized for upholding the Knight Code of Honor have demonstrated Arcadia’s Lived Values both in their personal and academic endeavors. They contribute to the welcoming community of excellence that Arcadia prides itself on and serve as examples to their peers. These Lived Values are adaptability, fearlessness, respect, responsibility, excellence, integrity, justice, and intellectual freedom.
To encourage a community of recognition and appreciation, CSSC created a nomination form that allows any member of the Arcadia community to shout out a fellow Knight. Through this form, faculty, staff, and students have all been able to highlight the good practices of individual students, ultimately leading to their inclusion in Thursday’s celebration.
“It is important to recognize students in an intimate and personalized way to foster a greater sense of belonging for them at Arcadia University,” explained Jenny Nuñez, MEd, student support navigator at Arcadia. “The goal is to make students feel seen and heard as it relates to their character and reputation on campus. Students will not remember every grade they earned, but they will remember how we made them feel. Celebrating student success is essential for institutional advancement and a positive campus culture.”
Students recognized for their contributions to Arcadia’s community spent time congratulating one another and sharing the significance of each Lived Value they were nominated for.
Allyson Velez ’25, nominated for demonstrating fearlessness on campus, explained, “To me, fearlessness means putting yourself out there and really being a part of the community, which is so important in the college experience, especially at Arcadia.”
“It’s important to be adaptable in college because you never know what’s going to come your way,” said Quinne Boyle ’26, acknowledged for showing both adaptability and responsibility. “You just need to be able to adjust to your surroundings, and it’s important to be responsible so that you can stay on top of everything and just keep doing a great job with what you’re doing.”
“Respect is just respecting everyone you meet on the street and just being a good human,” said Hannah Craig ’24, who was called out for being a model of respect and fearlessness.
Nuñez and the rest of the CSSC team are already looking to next year’s celebration.
“I hope the future of this program becomes significant to students as a core memory during their undergraduate and/or graduate experience at Arcadia where they are recognized in front of some of the most powerful professionals on campus for demonstrating the AU Lived Values, and as the catalyst for serving as role models for the rest of the Arcadia community,” added Nuñez. “I hope next year we need a bigger venue to fit folx as the Knight Code of Honor grows in importance to students, staff, and faculty.”
