Boeckel Elected to Philadelphia Inquirer/Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Team

Junior Whitney Boeckel of the Arcadia University women’s swimming team has been named to the 2013-14 Philadelphia Inquirer/Philly-SIDA Academic All-Area Team, which is select by the sports information offices at the 28 NCAA Division I, II, and III institutions in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. She is the first-ever women’s swimming selection at Arcadia.

An actuarial science and mathematics major with a 3.85 cumulative grade point average, Boeckel earned All-Middle Atlantic Conference honors in five events at the 2014 MAC Championships. Her seven career All-Conference performances are the second-most in program history.

Boackel earned First-Team All-Conference honors after placing second in the 200 Backstroke (2:08.21) and third in the 100 Backstroke (59.96) at the 2014 MAC Championships. She was a Second-Team All-Conference performer in the 200 IM (2:15.29), and as a member of the fifth-place 200 Freestyle and sixth-place 400 Medley Relay teams.

A two-time MAC Honor Roll selection, Boeckel holds five individual school records (500 and 1,000 Freestyle, 100 and 200 Backstroke, 200 IM) and is a member of four school-record relays (200, 400 and 800 Freestyle, and 400 Medley). Seven of those nine records were set this season.

Arcadia recorded a program-best seventh-place finish at the 2014 MAC Championships with a program record 241 points, while registering 22 school-record performances in 14 events at the championship meet.
