On April 18, six Doctor of Physical Therapy students participated in the fourth annual Pyramid STEM Showcase at the Leon H. Sullivan Center in Philadelphia. Teresa Gero ’16DPTDiane Kim ’16DPTBetsy Lane ’16DPTRebecca Nitz ’16DPTChristian Porter ’16DPT, and Dianne Weeks ’16DPT ran a booth with a variety of activities for attendees, including an opportunity to use balance equipment and a demonstration on electrical stimulation.

“The students had a blast seeing how we can activate muscles with a push of a button,” said Kim. “Our hope was to educate the community members about our profession as well as share with students the excitement of pursuing a STEM career.”

The Pyramid STEM Showcase: Educating & Empowering the African American Community is a community-based initiative by DHEx Enterprises, a management and information technology consulting company, encouraging youth to explore careers related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
