In Her First Book, Jessica Franklin ’16 Says to “Google It”

By Christopher Sarachilli | July 2, 2015

Psychology major and Honors student Jessica Franklin ’16 has published IDK…Google It, a book about the would-be-forgotten questions people usually turn to online search engines to answer. The idea started as an Honors project that took Franklin, who sometimes struggles to put thoughts into words, outside of her comfort zone.

“I’ve always wanted to write a book, and I’ve had ideas, but there was this doubt about, ‘what makes me qualified?’” said Franklin. “I didn’t want it to be one of those situations where the idea is really great but the execution is terrible.”

Franklin spent the spring 2015 semester writing, researching, and editing the book of questions before tackling copyright issues with the help of Helene Klein, director of Honors and Accelerated Programs. She received permission from Google to use its name and logo in the self-published book and plans to draw images for a second edition, which she is currently writing.
