How Do I Apply for Financial Aid?

For Students Fall 2018/Spring 2019:

The financial aid application process does not have to be confusing or time-consuming. Follow these simple steps to apply for federal, state and Arcadia University financial aid.

Priority Filing Deadlines

  • March 1, 2018 for new undergraduate students entering Fall 2018 semester.
  • April 1, 2018 for returning undergraduate, new and returning graduate students seeking financal aid for Summer 2018 and Fall 2018 semesters.

Note: Applications received after these dates will still be processed, but on a rolling basis as received. For best changes of maximum aid, apply by the priority deadline listed.

Attention Pennsylvania Students: The FAFSA must be received at Federal Student Aid Programs (or transmitted electronically) by May 1 for a student to receive state grant consideration.

Steps to Apply

Step 1

Apply (the student and one parent if dependent) for a FSA ID (personal identification number) at http://fsaid.ed.gov. FSA ID serves as your e-signature on FAFSA.

Step 2

Complete the  2018-2019 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) if you are seeking financial aid for Summer 2018, Fall 2018 or Spring 2019.

Step 3

Complete the 2018-19 Arcadia Financial Aid Application for Undergraduates if you are seeking financial aid for Summer 2018, Fall 2018 or Spring 2019. This form is required for those who wish to be considered for Arcadia University grant funds.

Note:

When filing your 2018-19 FAFSA, we encourage you to select the IRS Data Retrieval option so your FAFSA can be updated automatically with 2016 federal tax figures.  The 2018-19 FAFSA will be based on 2016 calendar year income so your federal tax return should already be on file with the IRS to enable you to use this option.  View Retrieval Video below for more information.

Students randomly selected for verification by Federal Student Aid Programs upon filing the FAFSA will receive separate notification and will be required to complete a Verification Form. In the event they have not selected the IRS Data Retrieval Option on the FAFSA, they will be required to request an IRS Tax Return Transcript directly from the IRS. You can download the tax return transcript in a pdf format and email it to finaid@arcadia.edu, clearly noting the student's name in the subject line, or you can mail it to: Arcadia University, Financial Aid Office, 450 S. Easton Road, Glenside, PA  19038. Tax Transcripts are also available by calling the IRS at 1-800-908-9946.

Any financial aid package prepared for an accepted student who is selected for verification remains only an estimate until this documentation is provided.

Aid Package and Award Letters

We'll prepare a financial aid package for you, once you have been accepted for admission and followed the steps to apply for financial aid. Award letters are being sent to all Fall 2018/Spring 2019 accepted students who have submitted the appropriate paperwork. Financial Aid packages are prepared on an on-going basis throughout the spring as the paperwork is received by the Financial Aid Office.  Most 2018-2019 forms can be completed online.

You will be notified via email once your aid package has been prepared and can view the package immediately on the Financial Aid Portal.  A paper copy will also be mailed to your home address. Please note that this is an Award Letter and not a bill.  It is a summary of the aid that you qualify to receive for the upcoming year.

Accepting Awards

You must go onto the Financial Aid Portal to accept or decline your aid.

Additional Aid Sources

To find additional aid sources to cover your balance, please visit Financing Options. You should attemp to file applications for student/parent loans by June 15, 2018 for the fall 2018 semester. Also, be aware of registration deadlines for the Monthly Payment Plan. We also encourage you to pursue any outside scholarship opportunities.
