 Curreri Named as First Team Freedom Selection Chobert, Console & Spangenberg take a spot on the Second Team
Arcadia University senior shortstop John Curreri has been named to the 2008 Freedom Conference First Team for baseball, announced by the Middle Atlantic Conference this morning. This is Curreri's first collegiate all-conference selection. Senior second basemen Ken Spangenberg, senior outfielder Eric Console and senior pitcher Steve Chobert all nabbed a spot on the Freedom Conference Second Team. Read more...

Women's Athletics Awarded Sportsmanship Award Arcadia University women's athletics programs have been honored with the 2008 Sportsmanship Award for the Freedom Conference. The award, presented by the MASCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, was created to reward outstanding overall sportsmanship at MASCAC institutions. The award is voted on by each team at the end of the their season and presented to a male and female athletic program in the Freedom and Commonwealth Conferences. Seniors Amanda Celentano and Michelle Leone accepted the award on behalf of the women's program. The women's programs at Messiah College were honored in Commonwealth Conference.
Fitzgerald Named Top Scholar Athlete for Men's Tennis Arcadia senior Tim Fitzgerald has been named 2008 MASCAC Scholar Athlete for Men's Tennis. Fitzgerald accepted this honor at the 8th Annual MASCAC Awards Luncheon, Monday at King's College. In his final season, Fitzgerald concluded his collegiate playing career with a 22 match undefeated streak at #1 singles, captured the Freedom Conference Player of the Year title and won the #1 Singles crown at the conference championships. Earlier this semester, he was one of three Knight's to receive Arcadia's Senior Scholar Athlete award. The 2008 recipient of the Ruth C. Grant Distinguished Achievement Award, Fitzgerald has earned Dean's Distinguished List honors for all eight semesters of his undergraduate career.
Celentano Tabbed First Team All Freedom, Discher & Bee Named to Second Team Senior catcher Amanda Celentano has been named First Team All Freedom Conference for Softball, announced by the conference office this morning. This is Celentano's first career post-season honor for softball. Senior outfielder Danielle Discher and junior first baseman Jaime Bee were both honored with Second Team All-Freedom selections. Baseball Bows to Valiants in Freedom Playoffs Arcadia Baseball was handed a tough 4-3 loss at the hands of Manhattanville College this evening, bowing out of the double elimination Freedom Conference tournament with two losses. Arcadia held an early 1-0 lead that the Valiants answered with a 4-1 edge into the ninth. The Knights put two runs on the board in their final appearance at the plate to make it a 4-3 contest but ran out of time. The Valiants out-hit Arcadia 6-5 as senior Andy Bella put up a solid performance in his final start through 8 innings. Arcadia closes the 2008 season with a 17-22-1 mark. Read more...
Knights Stay Alive in Freedom Tornament Arcadia Baseball rebounded from a 5-4 Friday night loss to DeSales with a 7-4 victory over Delaware Valley Saturday afternoon to stay alive in the 2008 Freedom Conference Tournament at Memorial Park Stadium in Quakertown. The #3 Knights battled the #2 DeSales Bulldogs in the Friday nightcap, losing on a two-out RBI single to right center field in the bottom of the ninth after opening with a 1-0 lead. This afternoon, Arcadia faced #4 Delaware Valley, who lost to #1 Manhattanville in Friday's opener 5-2, eliminating the Aggies from the tournament by a final score of 7-4. The Knights improve to 17-21-1 and will face the loser of Manhattanville/DeSales this evening at 6 PM. Read more...
 Knights Pocket Two Wins over Haverford in Season Finale
With the Knights bid for a post season berth coming up short, Arcadia Softball closed out the 2008 season with their second doubleheader non-conference sweep this year, this time over local foes Haverford College of the Centennial Conference. Brittni Holland hit the game winner in the the opener while Danielle Discher and Kellie Reese guided the Knights in the nightcap with standout performances. Read more...

Gallagher Takes a Spot on All Freedom Second Team Arcadia University's Kevin Gallagher finished in 6th place out of a field of 32 at the Freedom Conference Golf Championships at Hershey Country Club East Course. Gallagher came out on Sunday and bettered his Saturday score by five strokes, finishing with an 81 on the day and a 167 (+25) for the tournament to capture Freedom Conference Second Team All Conference honors. Baseball Captures #3 Seed For Freedom Playoffs with Series Win Over Delaware Valley The Knights can let out a sigh of relief as the team took two of three from the Aggies of Delaware Valley College to secure the number three seed for next weekend's Freedom Conference Championships and a chance to play for the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. After Friday night's comeback win at Enry Field, the Knights trounced the Aggies 19-4 in the doubleheader opener in Doylestown, before the Aggies came back to win in the nighcap, 11-5. Read more...
 DeSales Sweeps Softball, 6-0, 8-7 The Bulldogs of DeSales University handed Arcadia Softball two losses Saturday afternoon, 6-0 in game one and 8-7 (8 innings) in game two, as the Knights close out Freedom Conference play with a 3-9 mark and will miss out on post-season play. Read more...
Women's Basketball and Field Hockey to host Summer Camps for Girls
Arcadia University Women's Basketball will host Above the Rim Girl's Basketball Camp from June 24th through June 27th and the Knight's Field Hockey program will run a Day Camp for girls, July 14th through July 18th. 44 Student-Athletes Acknowledged for Outstanding Academic Achievement Arcadia University Provost Michael Berger presided over the 2008 Honors Convocation Saturday morning with 44 individual student-athletes receiving one or multiple honors for outstanding academic achievement during the Spring and Fall 2007 semesters.
