Get Ready to Play: Intramural Sports at the Dome Begin Jan. 24

Arcadia is kicking off 2011 with a handful of indoor intramural leagues. Whether you’re a sports fanatic, have fitness goals for the New Year or simply catch yourself complaining that you’re bored on campus, grab a friend and head to the Dome.

“I am so happy to have been given the opportunity to develop the intramural program at Arcadia University,” says Jack Jephson, Director of Intramurals & Recreation. “Now Arcadia students can get involved in the athletics program even if they don’t play varsity sports. I’ve taken feedback about what events have been popular in the past and tried to supplement them with new activities and events. Intramurals are an integral part of the college experience and it is my hope that all students will take some time out of their schedules to come out and experience what we have worked so hard to put together for them.”

All intramural events will be held in the Dome from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

  • Monday, Jan. 24: Indoor Intramural Soccer League
  • Tuesday, Jan. 25: Ultimate Frisbee
  • Wednesday, Jan. 26: Indoor Intramural Soccer League
  • Thursday, Jan. 27: Dodgeball

All participants are required to sign up in Kuch 11 to receive matching team shirts or to register for soccer, dodgeball and other upcoming events such as flag football.

Intramural soccer teams will consist of seven players with at least three women and three men. No more than three varsity soccer players will be allowed on each team. Prizes will be given to the top teams at the conclusion of the season.

No sign up is required for co-ed Ultimate Frisbee. Wawa gift certificates will be given out during the event.

Dodgeball teams will consist of six players, at least two men and two women. Each player will receive his or her own Arcadia University Dodgeball T-shirt. Prizes will be given away each night.
