Guests from around the world and from the Philadelphia region will greet Carl (Tobey) Oxholm III at his inauguration (www.arcadia.edu/inauguration) as Arcadia University’s 20th president on Saturday, April 28, at 3 p.m. in the Kuch Center Alumni Gymnasium. Students, alumni, faculty, staff, trustees and community members are invited to join in the celebration, which coincides with Capstone presentations, where every graduating student in every major presents a culminating project or thesis work. Saturday’s festivities begin with Honors Convocation at 10:30 a.m. in the gymnasium.

At the Inauguration, Arcadia University Board Chair Margaret Wright Steele ’80 will conduct the installation of President Oxholm and present him with the Presidential Chain of Office. Educational leaders from China, France and Cuba will deliver personal greetings, and colleagues from Arcadia’s global family in New Zealand, Italy, Scotland, Turkey, Russia and Romania add their personal commendations to a president who leads a university known internationally for its leadership in international education. U.S. Rep. Allyson Schwartz and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter are among the Philadelphia and regional greeters for President Oxholm, who started his legal career in Philadelphia, including working with the City Solicitor’s Office and spearheading efforts to improve residents’ access to pro bono legal assistance. Oxholm also made a mark on the city in his work at Drexel University, where he led the acquisition of MCP Hahnemann University and the creation of Drexel Law. Dr. Ali A. Houshmand, Interim President of Rowan University, and a colleague of President Oxholm at Drexel University, will introduce Arcadia’s new president.
