International MBA Graduates Celebrate Commencement, Welcome Delener to Singapore

Graduating students of the Arcadia University International M.B.A. program gathered at the Grand Ballroom of the Concorde Hotel in Singapore for a graduate commencement ceremony on April 21.

The beginning of the ceremony was marked by the U.S. national anthem, followed by the national anthem of the Republic of Singapore. Dr. NJ Delener, Founding Dean of the School of Global Business, and Dr. Sandra Hordis, Director of International Academic Programs, were introduced as honorable guests, along with Dr. KC Chan, Distinguished Professor at Aventis School of Management, the institution where Arcadia’s International M.B.A. program is offered in Singapore.

Delener delivered a welcome address to the graduates, families, faculty and staff. “Each individual has worked very hard to learn, grow and meet the expectations and requirements for becoming one of our graduates. These graduates have earned our respect and admiration,” he said. “I look forward to building upon our relationships. Please know that you are always welcome to come home to your alma mater.”

Chan, who is the instructor of the BA640: Operations and Technology course in the International M.B.A. program, addressed the graduates with a commencement speech. “We would like to extend congratulations to all of you who have worked so hard,” he said. “We are proud of each of you, and you all deserve to soak up and enjoy every single moment of today in return for this great achievement.”

The most recent group of students to complete the International M.B.A. program, Cohort 3, is comprised of 34 graduates: Ameerullah Bin Abd Karim @ Abdul Kader, Roy Martin Bell, Chan Chung Ming Dominic, Chen Junrong (Jessie), Chia Lin, Chua Moh Seng (Daniel), Foo Der Chyang (Desmond), Gan Ye Chen, Remeshbabu Kalarikkandy, Kunnumbreth, Chua Boon Kiat (Roger), Ling Jian Yew (Wilfred), Liw Pei Rhu (Jane), Loh Ping En (Brian), Low Siew Boon (Anthony), Colin Malcolm Millward, Ngan Poh Lan (Cassandra), Nghia Thi Minh Nguyen (Susan), Teo Nio Hong (Kristopher), Phua Hwee San (Miriam), Quek Xiuxuan (Xavier), Omero Bruno Samero, Sin Wai Tuck (Sean), Soh Pe Yin (Vicky), Suen Bernard B L, Suseno Norendrawati, Tan Shyh Yong, Tang Han Qiang, Tiyu Seok Hian (Christine), Maria Lourdes Fano Velasco, Margaret William, Wu Yuan Chun (Daniel), Yap Peng Boon (Kenny), Tham Weng Yip and Oak Kyaw Za.

Following Delener’s and Chan’s remarks, the graduates received congratulatory video messages from President Carl (Tobey) Oxholm III (watch President Oxholm’s greeting) and Dr. Steve O. Michael, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, who also offered written congratulatory remarks to the graduates.

“At the end of today’s ceremony, you will have in your possession a diploma that confirms you have mastered an area of expertise that affects every business enterprise,” wrote President Oxholm. “Thanks to Arcadia’s focus and philosophy, that credential is awarded in the context of a global economy. And you will be an alumnus of a truly International M.B.A. program.”

“I am certain the world is better today because you have joined the ranks of Arcadia M.B.A. graduates,” remarked Dr. Michael. “Your success in this program is a testament to your tenacity and determination.”

Several graduates from the International M.B.A. program will travel to the United States to participate in the graduate commencement ceremony in Glenside, Pa., on Thursday, May 17.
