Strategic Planning: Focus Groups Yield Strong Participation

By Purnell T. Cropper | February 22, 2013

Members of the Arcadia community joined the dialogue to shape the University’s strategic direction in several meetings hosted on campus from Feb. 19 to Feb. 22. There was strong participation with more than 60 faculty members, 60 students, and 58 staff members preregistering and attending focus groups.

In each session, the participants displayed great enthusiasm for the University’s strengths and future potential, engaging in spirited discussion. While there were many common themes across the sessions, each meeting generated unique and innovative ideas that will be presented to the Strategic Planning Committee.

“Our community participation in the strategic planning thus far, be it through the survey or through the focus group meetings, continues to be incredibly strong, guaranteeing that the end product will be a reflection of our collective thinking, visioning, and aspiration for Arcadia University,” say Committee Co-chairs Dr. Steve O. Michael, Provost, and Dr. Theresa Rollins, Trustee.

As the Strategic Planning process continues across the University, the Committee is committed to keeping with an approach that is responsive, inclusive and transparent.

Next week brings discussion opportunities for alumni as well as Staff Assembly participants and the Board of Trustees. All staff members are invited to attend focus groups immediately following Staff Assembly on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 10 a.m. in the Commons Great Room.

If you have any questions about the planning process or would like to contribute additional ideas to the Committee, please email Dr. John Hoffman, Project Manager, at hoffmanj@arcadia.edu.
