Laxton Presents at Colloquium of Doctors of Health Science

Mary Laxton, MPA, PA-C, DFAAPA, professor in the department of medical science and community health, presented at the 7th Annual Colloquium of Doctors of Health Science sponsored by Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.  

Her presentation, titled “Advantages of and Global Incident and Prevalent Use of Peritoneal Dialysis as a Modality for Renal Replacement Therapy,” addressed the current status of end-stage renal disease worldwide. It focused on the incidence and prevalence of chronic kidney disease, the scarcity of transplantable organs, the long wait time for kidney transplant, and the role that peritoneal dialysis can play as an effective method of renal replacement therapy worldwide.
