Arcadia University Public Health Week to Address Quality of Life, Food Waste

By Caitlin Burns | March 30, 2016

Arcadia University’s Public Health Week, April 4 to 7, will feature presentations on enhancing the general health and quality of life for the public through resilience, “everyday triumphs,” and food waste. The week aims to start a discussion on the importance of community and global public health.

Public Health Week kicks off on Monday, April 4 with a free screening of “Just Eat It. A Food Waste Story,” in the Commons Great Room from 6 to 9 p.m. This 74-minute documentary, winner of the People’s Choice Award for Best Documentary Feature (2016), Audience Must See BC Award (2014), and Impact Award (2014), will have audiences consider exactly where their food waste is going.

Additionally, students can win Visa gift cards by posting photos throughout the week to the “Community & Global Public Health Programs at Arcadia University” Facebook page that show what public health in the community means to them. Winners will be chosen on Thursday, April 7.

Arcadia’s Public Health Week is sponsored by the University’s Department of Community and Global Public Health.
