Anilyn Bennett ’17, International Studies major, and Justynn Palmer ’18, Computer Science major, were among approximately 850 undergraduates across the U.S. selected to receive the prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to study abroad during the fall 2016 semester.

Bennett, is studying Wildlife Conservation and Political Ecology in Tanzania. This is her second study abroad program, having previously spent a semester in Turkey.

Palmer, is studying Japanese language and Anthropology in Tokyo, Japan.

“Coming to Japan has always been something I wanted to do, but I never thought I’d get the chance this soon,” Palmer said. “Experiencing the culture and seeing the sights has allowed me to look at America, and the world, more objectively.”

Bennett and Palmer each received $3,000 toward study abroad and internship program costs.
