Dr. Brasof Leads Youth-Adult Leadership Initiative in New York

Dr. Marc Brasof, assistant professor of Education, is collaborating with Youth Development Consultant Marc Fernandes to lead one of the largest youth-adult leadership initiatives in the country. Dr. Brasof will help reform student councils into youth-adult councils in the 200 high schools that are part of the New York City public school system. These councils will have the power to help implement new school policies and practices.

Dr. Brasof and Fernandes will also work to form intergovernmental school councils on campuses with at least five of these schools. The goal of the initiative is to expose students to youth leadership and democratic skills.

Dr. Brasof discussed the theories behind this study in a podcast interview with Canadian education radio host Jean Courtney in August.
