By Caitlin Burns | April 1, 2017

The Arcadia University Physical Therapy Alumni Association held its annual continuing education course fundraiser on campus March 18 and 19. Participants raised funds to help provide for incoming Physical Therapy student scholarships, as well as student travel for international pro bono service trips and to PT conferences.

Guest speaker Dr. Shirley Sahrmann, professor emerita of Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine, spoke on Movement System Impairments of the Lumbar Spine and Lower Extremity. Dr. Sahrmann researches the development and validation of classification schemes for movement impairment syndromes as well as exercise-based interventions for such syndromes. Her books, Diagnosis and Treatment of Movement Impairment Syndromes and Movement System Impairment Syndromes of the Extremities, Cervical and Thoracic Spines, describe the syndromes and methods of treatment.
