The Office of International Affairs (OIA) will host several events Nov.13 through 17 for International Education Week:

Monday, Nov. 13
Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner: Grey Towers Castle, 4:30 to 6 p.m and 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Attendees choose a ceramic bowl, made by students and faculty, to use as their soup bowl for the evening and take home. Soups are donated by local businesses and restaurants. This year, 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit the Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network and Rise Against Hunger.

Tuesday, Nov. 14
The Big Sick Screening and Discussion: Calhoun Amphitheater, Boyer Hall, 7:30 p.m.
The Big Sick, a movie about a Pakistan-born comedian, Kumail Nanjiani, and a graduate student, Emily Gardner, experiencing a culture clash in their relationship, will be shown. After the film, Dr. Amy Widestrom, professor of Historical and Political Studies, will lead a discussion.

Wednesday, Nov. 15
Modern Languages Scavenger Hunt: Easton Cafe, 3 p.m.
Teams of two or three language learning students will scour campus for people, places, and objects in their target language. The first team to arrive back at the starting point wins.

Celebrating Cultures: Great Room, 6 p.m.
Arcadia’s community will share individual and collective cultural perspectives via food, display, and performance at the 25th annual Celebrating Cultures event, one of Arcadia’s signature traditions.

Thursday, Nov. 16
Peace Corp: 27 Months: Easton 247, 7:30 p.m.
In this documentary, three Americans challenge themselves to bridge cultural chasms and find common ground during their 27-month Peace Corps deployment. After the screening, a discussion will be held about Arcadia’s Peace Corp Prep Program.

Friday, Nov. 17
Going Global After Graduation: Easton 246, 12:15 p.m.
OIA and The College of Global Studies will discuss graduate schools, teaching English, working, and participating in service abroad.

Throughout International Education Week, students studying abroad will take over the University’s Instagram and Snapchat accounts to showcase some of the locations available through Arcadia’s international programs.

International Education Week is a collaboration between the U.S Department of State and the U.S Department of Education to advocate international education and cultural exchange worldwide and encourage students to adapt to global environments.
