Arcadia University Letter of Solidarity

By Caitlin Burns | October 30, 2018

Join Us in Signing a Letter from the Office of Institutional Diversity at Arcadia University

A rise in bias incidents has threatened our society, and we have witnessed verbal and physical acts of intolerance across our institutions, organizations, and citizens on a local, national, and global scale. The greatest threat to our democracy comes from attacks on our humanity. Expressions of hate based on religion, race, ethnicity, sexuality, and gender are alarming and unsettling.

We, the Arcadia University campus community, are unified against expressions of hate that divide our society. We sign this letter to reaffirm our commitment to an equitable and inclusive community:

We are united in our support of all members of our community regardless of race, creed, gender, sexual identity, national origin, age, socio-economic status, or disability.

We will counter the divisive nature of inhumane actions.

We respect freedoms of speech and religion, and expressions of gender and sexual identity.

We encourage open discussion across viewpoints and intellectual disciplines and respect intellectual freedom for all our of community members.

We shall work together to ensure civility in our University community.

These signatures represent our solidarity. We encourage our students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends to join us in signing a commitment to unite as a community, to reach across our differences and move closer together, and to remain in support of all those around the world who face intolerance.

Arcadia University is no place for intolerance or hate.
