Arcadia Hosts National Public Health Week Events
Arcadia’s Public Health Student Society (PHSS) is hosting fun and educational events for National Public Health Week, starting April 1. All events are free for Arcadia students, faculty, and staff.
Monday, April 1: “Community Health Day”
Yoga in the Castle: A one-hour yoga session led by Allyson McCreery from Fit for Life in Jenkintown. Attendees should bring their own yoga mat or towel. The event is open to all levels of yoga practice. RSVP.

Tuesday, April 2: Violence Prevention Day
Violence Prevention Table: PHSS will have a table at the Chat offering trivia on violence prevention for prizes. The PHSS has collaborated with Laurel House, a nonprofit domestic violence agency, to provide resources and information for students.

Film Viewing of “Stink!”: PHSS hosts a film viewing of the documentary “Stink! The Movie the Chemical Industry Doesn’t Want You to See.” The film examines how chemicals used in everyday American products pose health risk for consumers. RSVP.

Wednesday, April 3: Rural Health Day
Rural Health Awareness Table: Those who live in rural areas face numerous obstacles to accessing health care, such as distant health facilities and lack of adequate public transportation. PHSS will have a table at the Chat for students to learn more about these challenges through trivia, with opportunities to win prizes.

Thursday, April 4: Technology in Public Health
Healthy App Themed Treat Boxes: Get a free box of healthy snacks at the Chat and learn about health-promoting apps, which include guided meditation and fitness tracking.

Friday, April 5: Climate Change Day
Climate Change Bingo: Discover how to reduce your carbon footprint. National Public Health Week ends with climate change bingo, where participants can learn about environmental wellness. Three winners will receive gift baskets with items such as mugs, reusable shopping bags, metal straws, and other zero-waste products. RSVP.
