Arcadia’s Honors Program held its fifth annual Senior Social on April 5 in Grey Towers Castle. Essentially a prom, the event encourages senior citizens to get out of their skilled care facilities for a night of fun.

Students coordinated and ran this year’s event, which was the largest in history with more than 40 seniors in attendance. The theme was “Old Hollywood,” with the decorations and invitations created by student volunteers.

“It gives people in our community a chance to get out and have a great time surrounded by people that, for a day, are serving them,” said Amy Stinger ’20, who helped coordinate this year’s senior social. “My uncle passed away in the end of my first year, and he lived in a nursing home for some time. They didn’t have things like these—nothing to persuade him out of the building to socialize or be with people. This senior prom allows us to provide that for people like him.”
