Sports Management students heard from Marquise Watson, manager of Corporate Partnerships Activation at the Philadelphia 76ers, and Allen Qi, senior coordinator of International Business Development at Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment, as part of the School of Global Business’s speaker series.

The Sept. 24 event allowed students to discuss career development in sports and internship opportunities within the National Basketball Association (NBA) with industry professionals. Students also learned the importance of knowing themselves, as Watson and Qi argued that growth is attainable only when one can identify strengths and weaknesses. They were also encouraged to be purposeful in establishing a presence and should possess an attitude that people want to be around. Attendees were also told that their attire should send a message that they are professional. Finally they were encouraged to seek out a mentor, someone who would help them learn, show them new ideas, and help them promote themselves.
