Office of International Programs – South Korea Preview Update

By Maria Tanner | February 26, 2020

Hello Preview students,

I want to provide an update for our South Korea Preview course and March travel, based upon the coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19) in South Korea.  The December 2019 outbreak of this new virus originated in the Hubei province in China, but the reported number of confirmed cases elsewhere around the globe continues to increase.  Nearly 1000 cases have been reported in South Korea and  the U.S. based Center for Disease Control (CDC) last night issued a level three travel advisory for travelers to “avoid non-essential travel” to South Korea.

In light of this rating and out of an abundance of caution, the University has made the decision to cancel Preview travel to South Korea for 2020. We know that this may be disappointing and we are working on a follow up plan for those students enrolled in this Preview course.

For further information about the COVID-19, there are a number of resources:

All members of the Arcadia community are encouraged to take  precautionary measures for this flu season. The coronavirus can exhibit some similar symptoms with the flu. Please contact Student Health Services via shs@arcadia.edu or 215-572-2966 if you have any questions or concerns.
