Glenside Arts Festival, April 22: Arcadia Table Space Available, Explore Mural Project

By Caitlin Burns | March 29, 2017

This is a special year marking the 4th Annual Downtown Glenside Arts Festival, celebrating the arts and Earth Day on Saturday, April 22. The festival will run, rain or shine, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Easton Road in Glenside, between the Glenside Train Station and Waverly Road, easily accessible by train, bus, or car.

For the fourth year running, Arcadia University has been a sponsor for the Festival, providing a table for students, staff, and faculty to bring their arts and crafts to sell to the Glenside community. Table space is filling up quickly, so please contact Laura Baldwin if you are interested in space at the festival.

Arcadia will have a special Public Art presence this year! From noon until 2 p.m., the Arcadia University Public Art Entrepreneurship/Apprenticeship class and Philadelphia-based muralist David Guinn will welcome the community to learn all about the mural being painted at the Easton Road underpass at the Glenside Station.

The Festival will welcome more than 70 established and emerging artists and crafters from around the region offering hand-made pottery, mixed media artwork, jewelry, children’s clothes, custom scarves, and much more. In addition, the Moody Jones Gallery will have a car for festival goers to decorate at the event.  Other activities throughout the day include The Art of the Earth kids zone, as well as musical entertainment, educational activities, and more to celebrate Earth Day. Festival partners include the Downtown Glenside Community Partnership, the Downtown Glenside Foundation, Cheltenham Township, Sustainable Cheltenham, and Arcadia University.
