Fairy-Tale Wedding in the Castle: The Winners Are…

By Purnell T. Cropper | May 6, 2011

The results are in for the fairy-tale wedding poll that accompanied the “Romancing the Castle” article in the spring 2011 Arcadia magazine.

Bruce Keller, Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies, advises the bride before giving her away on the Castle staircase. Guests and the groom are wowed by her dress, which was designed by Alisa Kleckner, Costume Shop Supervisor. Jeff Ewing, former Dean of Students, conducts the ceremony, pulling from his experience officiating the weddings of two other Arcadia couples. As the newlyweds descend the grand staircase, Josh Blustein, Associate Professor of Psychology, and his guitar serenade the crowd.

In the Mirror Room, guests join the couple for a standard Philadelphia dinner—cheese steaks—and then watch the bride and groom dance to “When You Wish Upon a Star.”

Blustein’s music continues, sending the guests shimmying and shaking. When all are hungry again, a miniature Castle—in cake form—serves as dessert. As the fairy-tale night ends, the couple jet off to Paris, France, for a romantic honeymoon, but not before handing everyone a Knight doll as a thank you for attending.

Thank you to all who participated in the poll!
