Get the Most Out of Orientation

By Purnell T. Cropper | July 29, 2011

“Arcadia’s Orientation was very welcoming, I was not afraid to be myself at all,” says Joe Carp ’11. “The Orientation Leaders (OLs) were very enthusiastic and very approachable. I was never hesitant to ask them for help because they were very willing to help any of us out right off the bat.

“I enjoyed getting to know the OLs because, as a transfer student, I was in their age group anyway. The OLs were able to keep a professional demeanor while at the same time keeping a down to earth, comfortable attitude that made me feel connected to them and to Arcadia.

“In most cases, it is up to the transfer student when it comes to how much he or she wants to get out of Orientation. I decided that to get the best out of orientation and to meet many different people I had to participate in as many events as possible. This kind of attitude made all the difference, and I do not regret it. To those future transfers of Arcadia I beseech you to take on this kind of attitude. Why? Things will be easier; this means meeting new friends and getting acquainted with Arcadia staff and faculty.”
