Arcadia University’s Epsilon Kappa Chapter of Phi Beta Delta Honor Society for International Scholars is the outstanding chapter of the North East Region for the 2011-2012 academic year. The recognition was made during the awards ceremony at the 26th annual conference, April 12-13 in Kansas City, Mo.

“Your selection is based on your tremendous growth as a chapter, your engagement of key university personnel including the president, faculty members and international faculty,” wrote Norma George, Vice President of the Phi Beta Delta North East region. “Phi Beta Delta recognizes your involvement with international scholars such as peace activist John McCourt of Ireland, and the opportunities provided to your members to interact with to them, to learn of their work and the importance of travel in changing one’s perspective. We also believe that the international engagement of your president with First Year Experience students will provide an excellent opportunity for students to be aware of the importance and impact of Phi Beta Delta from the very beginning of their academic experience at the college level.”

“We inducted our largest group ever during November’s International Education Week: 83 students and six faculty. Goals of PBD are to recognize the scholarly achievement of international students and scholars, U.S. students who have studied abroad and faculty and staff who are involved in international activities,” said Jan Finn, Associate Dean for International Affairs.
