Barbara Simmons, adjunct instructor in the Arcadia University International Peace and Conflict Resolution master’s program and director of The Peace Center in Langhorne, Pa., won the Annual Al Krass Peace Award from the Interfaith Community of Lower Bucks at the International Peace Day events in Yardley, Pa. At the event, Simmons talked about her work:

Simmons said she works for peace because it is a calling for her. “It’s something that’s in my heart and I live it and I breathe it and I walk it as much as I possibly can,” she said. “I came to this work because I was against things like racism, anti-Semitism and homophobia. But, I learned you can’t be against something. You have to work for something. You have to work for change to be able to do conflict transformation work.”
