Over 800 community members joined Arcadia students, alumni, faculty, and staff at the 23rd annual Empty Bowl Benefit Dinner on Monday, Nov. 14.

Attendees chose from hundreds of handcrafted ceramic bowls, formed by members of the community into shapes such as Batman, turtles, and pumpkins, which serve as reminders to attendees that somewhere in the world, someone is without a meal or shelter.

Soups, breads, and desserts were provided by area restaurants and stores, including Whole Foods Market, Velvet Sky Bakery, and Panera Bread.

This year, the event raised $12,000 to benefit the Philadelphia Interfaith Hospitality Network, a local agency that provides temporary shelter and food to homeless families, and The Hunger Project, which promotes hunger relief and economic stability by improving agricultural techniques world-wide.
