Associate Professor of Historical and Political Studies Dr. Jennifer Riggan was featured in a story on April 17 by The Christian Science Monitor on Ethiopia’s acceptance of Eritrean refugees despite the harsh political climate between the two countries. Dr. Riggan, who has conducted a study on Ethiopian and Eritrean political relations, believes that Ethiopia’s acceptance of Eritrean refugees will help political relations down the road.

From the article: “Ethiopia’s response is to manage the gate, and figure out how it can benefit from these inevitable flows of people,” [Dr. Riggan] notes. “I definitely think Ethiopia’s approach is the wiser and more realistic one.”
