Artist Abbey Ryan ’03, associate professor of Visual and Performing Arts, showcased her talents during a live painting demonstration on Nov. 2 on the staircase landing of Grey Towers Castle. Ryan has conducted live painting demonstrations at Arcadia since 2011, each year raising hundreds of dollars for the scholarship in honor of her friend Jami Rodriguez ’00. Auctioned on eBay, this year the painting, “Still Life with Silver Pitcher, Two Strawberries, and Concord Grapes,” raised $409 for Arcadia’s Jami Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship.

“This painting, and my live demo, honors the memory of my friend,” said Ryan. “I remember Jami as an amazing artist and a wonderful friend, and I want to raise awareness about the Jami Rodriguez Memorial Scholarship to honor her legacy of community service, artistic creativity, and love for Beaver College.”

The scholarship supports full-time undergraduate students who have made significant contributions to campus life and community service.
