June 8, 2012 Purnell Cropper

Dr. Zaneta Chapman, Assistant Professor of Business Administration, was awarded a grant from the Robert P. Ashlock Risk Management and Insurance Development Program, sponsored by the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, to help fund the development of a new Risk Management and Insurance concentration in the School of Global Business. The grant was awarded to further the development of post-secondary risk management and insurance education through new academic offerings. “The field of risk management is growing rapidly as companies are employing new and innovative ways to manage risks,” Chapman said. “Due to the financial crisis of 2008, along with a series of subsequent events, business and government agencies have made managing risks an integral part of their day-to-day operations. Over the past five years, careers in various areas of risk management have become increasingly popular. As such, the number of students enrolling in Risk Management and Insurance programs continues to grow as well. The creation of this offering will provide a natural marriage of concepts taught in mathematics, statistics and health administration with those taught in business.”
