Arcadia University has appointed three new members to its Board of Trustees: Elliott A. Roth, MBA, CPA, partner at EisnerAmper LLP; James Wagner, Ph.D., former president of Emory University; and school counselor and psychotherapist Alexandra Mamolou, a 2014 graduate of Arcadia. They began their tenure as Trustees on June 1.

Elliot A. Roth
Roth is a retired partner of the international accounting firm EisnerAmper LLP. Roth’s concentrated his practice in the areas of accounting and auditing, quality control reviews, internal inspection programs, and audits of employee benefit plans. He is a certified fraud examiner and has provided expert witness testimony in federal and state court proceedings in the areas of accounting, auditing, general business, fraud investigations, and business valuations.

Roth has also taught as an adjunct lecturer of accounting, auditing and management at Temple University, Camden County College, the Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and LaSalle University. He served on the Township of Cherry Hill, N.J.’s Board of Education from 2008 to 2016, and on the Board of Directors of Peter Nero and the Philly Pops for over 20 years.

Dr. James Wagner
Dr. Wagner served as president of Emory University from 2003 to 2016. There, he renewed visions on ethical engagement and student experience by improving the undergraduate living experience through extensive additions to campus, including the development of the “freshman village.” Dr. Wagner is now President Emeritus of Emory, which established the James W. Wagner Chair in Ethics, and honored his leadership by naming the green space adjoining several first-year residence halls as the James W. Wagner Quadrangle.

Prior to his work at Emory, Dr. Wagner was dean of engineering, provost, and acting president at Case Western Reserve University, held faculty positions at Johns Hopkins University and he spent 10 years as an electronics engineer for the Center for Devices and Radiological Health at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Wagner serves as a board member for the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry in South Carolina, and he is a former board member for the Carter Center and the Atlanta Committee for Progress. He also served as a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a charter fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.

In the spring of 2009, Dr. Wagner was elected as a Fellow in the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, and he received the President’s Award of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators for Region III in the summer of 2011. In 2009, President Barack Obama appointed Dr. Wagner as vice-chair of the Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, a role in which he served through the duration of that commission’s term, ending in January 2017.

Alexandra Mamolou
Mamolou is a school counselor for CORA Services in Philadelphia and a psychotherapist at the Mindful Stress & Anxiety Management Center of Philadelphia. She provides mental healthcare for children, adolescents, and adults in outpatient and school settings and specializes in anxiety treatment.

Mamolou has presented research on the process of creating effective evidence-based and culturally-competent counselors at the Pennsylvania Counseling Association’s (PCA) annual conference, as well as published about it in the PCA Journal. In addition to her Master’s of Counseling Psychology from Arcadia, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Rochester.

Mamalou will serve a two-year term as a Recent Graduate Trustee at Arcadia.
