Dr. Loury Speaks, Blount ’15 Recognized at Black CAPs Celebration

Dr. Doreen Loury, assistant professor of Sociology, Anthropology and Criminal Justice and director of the Pan African Studies Program, gave the welcome address at the third annual Black CAPs Philly 2017 Celebration of Black Male Post-Secondary Achievement on May 11 at Philadelphia’s City Hall.

Dr. Loury, representing the Black Male Development Symposium, congratulated the 18 young black men who received degrees in 2017. Additionally, Octavius Blount ’15 was recognized as a recent graduate of Bryn Mawr’s Social Work Graduate Program.

Black CAPs Philly recognizes and celebrates black men who earned their undergraduate, graduate or professional degrees in recognition of the inordinate obstacles they overcame to achieve this goal.
